I’ll let you what I want, what I really really want
So anyway.
After a great discussion over a fish supper (yaldy) with a great chum, and Spice Girl songs, this blog post has been gathering momentum in my head, so here goes.
Its the time of year when we may be setting goals and thinking about what we want to achieve in the New Year, and what we are excited about. If I can get through the festive season without feeling like the Mitchelan man on the other side, I’m winning at life already.
I’d like to draw your attention to the word ‘But’.
How many times do you talk yourself down, or talk yourself out of doing something.
I really want to redecorate my house BUT…
I want to change my hair cut BUT
I want to contact that person I haven’t spoken to in a while BUT
I want to do further study BUT
I want to start going to gym classes /do home gym BUT
I really fancy a change of career BUT
I have a great idea for a new business venture BUT
Can you see where I am going with this? We can create momentum by having these great thoughts and ideas, then all of a sudden, the word BUT appears and it slams the breaks on.
The trick is to keep the momentum going, and only choose 1 thing at a time to concentrate on, keep the momentum going on it, finish it then move onto the next. It depends on how big the task or the wish is, you may be able to keep 2 plates spinning at the same time, but no more than that as it becomes diluted.
This blog post is to help myself too, to be honest, I am trying to spin too many plates at the moment, and I am not getting much progress in any one area because I keep leapfrogging from one to the other.
I am currently:
Studying theory for aromatherapy
Studying for a certificate in CBT (not to practice, it helps me communicate better with clients and know what to ask, when talking about pain)
Writing a book
Writing a workshop about menopause.
Too much huh? So once I have finished this post, I am off to make a phone call to make ONE of those things a diary date. Making it public like this makes me a bit more accountable too.
What’s is on your list? What are you talking yourself out of doing?
Go on. I dare you.
