Get your Om On...Five Minutes with Kirsty Mac

What’s the first thing you do in the morning?

Shout at my alarm clock, get up and do a spot of yoga and then meditation most days. Sometimes, after I’ve being travelling a lot, I only shout at my alarm clock!

What does being healthy mean to you?

Longevity, sustainability - squeezing out all the juice of the day. When I am juicing and exercising a lot I feel in flow, it’s like all of my cells are like little happy Ribena berries! (with less sugar). I am more tuned in now and know when this is off kilter, hence the reason I type this just before I go away for a week to do just that.

I know you love what you do for a living but how do you switch off and recharge?

As above. Go to a retreat and juice and exercise. I am training to be a yoga teacher at the moment too which has given me more tools which I am practising. Meditation helps me a lot as does sauvignon blanc and a book about murder.

If you have to travel for work do you have a bag of tricks you take with you and what’s in it?

I travel every week. I have many bags of tricks - if this question is about health it’s lots of moisturising cremes, books, stationery for writing notes on all the different businesses I have - I need to journal and get things out of my head, especially on a flight. I have to write as it does some weird and wonderful thing where I am exceedingly creative - think its the non interruptions. If I am travelling for a considerable time I take my travel juicer.

If you could pass on a piece of advice to people on staying healthy or improving their physical wellbeing, what would it be?

Listen to your body, it knows.

And power naps. That’s what we were built for, not to sleep all through the night. And meditation for me means I require less sleep.

What’s on your playlist right now?

I heard the most beautiful song by Frances the other day “Don’t worry about me” and Om harmonics focus and spark meditation (I need it a lot right now) and a big fan of Jamie Lawson right now - saw him live recently and it adds another dimension to the listening doesn’t it?

Tell us something about you no one else knows…

I love a fizzy pig tail
