Some things you just can't see...

How are you?

No really… how are you?

This is just a short blog post, but I hope , one with a valuable message.

Some things you just can’t see.

Stress and anxiety.

Would you recognise stress if you saw it, because it’s just not something you can see. It’s not as obvious as a physical injury, like scraping your knees, or something that would need a stookie, or a plaster, but the effects can be just as devastating.

unhelpful thinking, not able to concentrate, feeling distracted, feeling overwhelmed and not able to put it into words.

The only way, that stress is recognised is by asking someone ‘how are you?’

It is a question I have been asking my clients over the last few weeks that I’ve been back in practice, do me a favour though, don’t just leave it to me.

Ask your friends if you get them on their own, ask your family, again, if you get them on your own, even take a moment to yourself and start the conversation if you don’t feel so good.

Some people can be quite taken aback when i say that sometimes I can suffer from anxiety, and unhelpful thinking.

I am lucky enough to have a job that I absolutely love, and that makes life really easy work wise, but today in particular, I felt quite overwhelmed from watching the news, and had feelings of having not achieved very much, and just worried about life on so many levels.

Don’t just assume that everyone in your life is OK, ask the question, start the conversation and make sure you get the chance to speak too.

In best health,

Elizabeth
