The rain in spain...

Oh my giddy aunt.

How are you?

As I sit and write this, I am having a bit of downturn. It’s knowing what to do when these days happen. It’s knowing to step away from the phone, and do nothing, be measured in my language, and stay in a good place for my clients.

I have had a couple of external things happen to me, one of them being that my flat got flooded with sewage after a tropical style downpour exposed a blocked sewage trap outside my flat.

I am displaced from my home just now (but incredibly lucky to be flat and cat sitting at present). Divine timing that one of my friends went on holiday for a month. A total win win situation.

It has put me in a bit of a quandry though. As well as my resilience being tested living out of a suitcase, I had started house hunting in Troon, but I am now in a friends flat in deep in the Southside and I am next to a string of pubs that have a quiz on between them every night of the week. Love a pub quiz. To coast or not to coast.

So how do you cope with unexpected stress?

Here is my go to list.

Big long walks, and podcasts.

Go to bed an hour earlier than you usually do.

Journalling for the win. Just write anything and everything down that is annoying you, as well as the opposite of that. Write down many many things that you feel grateful for.

Don’t stress eat. I can be prone to this so keeping up my protein really helps with that.

Self care: whatever that looks like. Yoga, face packs, meditation, big long walks.

Speak with friends, and find someone that can give you a good listening too.

Don’t wait for someone else to make your life good. Make it good all on your own. We can do hard things.

Onward!
