How to be a better foot owner.
Wow.
This week I listened to a podcast called Fat Mascara with a woman who is own a medical pedicure salon in NYC.
I have always loved feet, and this podcast is next level knowledge.
I have always loved having healthy looking nails, and the first time I got a pedicure like no other was in Dubai about 15 years ago when my sister was living there. It was done by a man in a super posh hotel and I swear my feet have never looked or felt so good.
Fast forward to sometime last year, when I client of mine came in, and when he turned over on the couch I was dazzled by how shiny his toenails were, he’d been to Margaret Dabbs in Glasgow.
I was super curious to go, but to be honest the £85 treatment price was putting me off. The push came to shove one day when I had a corn on my foot that was driving me mental, and I couldn’t get a podiatry appointment. So I went Margaret Dabbs for a medical pedicure. Goddamn it I wanted to hate it an say it wasn’t worth it, but I’m afraid it was brilliant!!!
My podiatry appointments can be about 20 mins or so, where as this was just over 60 mins on my feet and I swear to God they did EVERYTHING. My feet looked an felt brilliant.
My go to podiatrists in Glasgow are Andi Black and Laura McGuire. These 2 for the win, for medical procedures and overall foot health. Get involved if don’t go regularly. However, for the full shebang with bells and whistles, Margaret Dabbs for shiny toenails.
So back to the podcast. I had no idea that you could train your nails to grow differently! I have terrible double growth on some of my nails. Running and years in high heels when I was younger did me no favours.
The podcast recommended rubbing oil into your nails a least a couple of times a week, and also use a foot file just after having a bath or a shower.
Olive oil is apparently for the win, although I used castor oil last night.
I am really into showing parts of our body that we normally slag off, a bit more love, so its stomachs, hips and feet just now. I’ll keep you posted how it goes, but in the meantime, listen to the podcast!
Onward.
